Anderson Lake on Horseback

On the trail to Anderson Lake
Exploring the trails into the high mountain lakes in the McCall area is just one of the many ways to experience a trail ride out of the Blackhawk on the River Equestrian Center. There are over 350 lakes and 4 major river systems within 20 miles of McCall. Anderson Lake may be a steep uphill hike (or ride) from Boulder Lake, but the fishing is well worth the effort!

Testing the waters at Anderson Lake
With every cast Kifor and Stefon Muroff hooked a native Brook Trout. The lake receives little use, so the fish are eager to bite. Kifor said “They will bite on anything bright colored, like a Gold Blue Fox Spinner. I’d even try a worm and small hook and drag it along the bottom.” The other guests along for the ride are Blackhawk Ranch homeowners. Fishing should only get better with fall coming!
Equestrian Manager Jil Wickander is eager to ride into more of the area’s hard to reach lakes, so give her a call at (208) 630-4348 to book your own high mountain lake adventure!
