The Recreation

When it comes to recreation, you will never run short of things to do in McCall…or right in your own backyard at Blackhawk on the River.

McCall Idaho is an outdoor enthusiast’s dream — with some of the best places to hike, fish, golf, bike, ski and snowmobile in the West. No matter what your skill level, from novice to expert, you’ll love all that living at Blackhawk on the River and the McCall area have to offer.

At Blackhawk on the River.

With your own five mile stretch of the North Fork of the Payette, you’ll enjoy uncrowded fishing, canoeing, kayaking and more. Plus, 7.8 miles of non-motorized hiking and biking trails, 12 kilometers of groomed Nordic ski trails and more than 500 acres of preserved open space, including a 364-acre Wildlife Preserve. We also offer instructional seminars, recreational equipment for you and your guests’ use including fishing rods, bikes and canoes and a space for short-term horse boarding at our equestrian facility.

In and around McCall.

Your location at Blackhawk puts you in the heart of a much larger outdoor scene. Blackhawk is located midway between the two major ski resorts in the area — Tamarack Resort and Brundage Mountain. McCall is also surrounded by the Payette National Forest, and on the doorstep of the 2.3 million-acre Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness area, the largest Federally designated wilderness in the Lower 48. More than 500 miles of trails connect just across West Mountain Road from Blackhawk, giving you ready access to all the area has to offer, ideal for mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking, snowmobiling and more. Golfers will enjoy the area’s 99 holes of golf, including courses by Robert Trent Jones II, Andy North and Robert Muir Graves.
